STAFF HIGHLIGHT
Name: Trudy Carson
Role at RCC: Preschool Director
How long have you been on staff:
1. Tell us a little about what you do at RCC.
What does a normal week look like for you? What are you responsible for?
Lots of paperwork! I will work to make sure the preschool is a safe and efficient place for students and staff. I will promote our preschool, ensure all state regulations are being met and partner with our families and teachers to make sure all our students needs are being met.
2. What do you love most about your role?
What excites you? What keeps you motivated?
The students and families are absolutely my favorite part of working in the preschool! Knowing that I am helping students to grow and learn, in a safe and loving environment, is what keeps me motivated.
3. How did you end up at RCC?
Was there a moment or season that led you here?
Shortly after my family moved back to Ohio, we were looking for a home church and learned about all the great things going on at Reynoldsburg Community Church (then Reynoldsburg UMC). I fell in love with the spirit and the people of the church and decided to apply to an opening for childcare staff and have been on staff ever since.
4. What’s a recent moment that reminded you why you love serving here?
Share a story, conversation, or behind-the-scenes moment.
The end of year picnics for the preschool were a great reminder, in a very busy season, how much I love serving here. Every conversation with the children and parents reinforces the sense of community I feel here and reminds me why I love working with the kids.
5. What’s something people might not know about you?
Fun fact, hobby, hidden talent, unusual skill, etc.
I have great organizational skills. I am a science fiction fan ( I love Star Trek).
6. What’s your life like outside of church?
Family, favorite way to spend a Saturday, hobbies, etc.
I have a husband, Mike, who is a retired Marine and a son, Owen, who is in 10th grade at Pickerington North. We have two dogs, Sadie and Ellie. I am blessed to have my Mom and my brother’s family all living in Pickerington, too. I love to read, garden and travel.
7. What’s something God has been teaching you recently?
(If you’re comfortable sharing.)
God has been teaching me the importance of patience and letting go of the idea that I am in control.
8. How can RCC be praying for you right now? I would ask for prayers that I can continue the good work that the preschool is doing and that the staff and I are able to help our students grow in their relationship with God, feel cared for and inspire a lifelong love of learning.
