I am Clark Hess. My wife Kim (retired RN) and I celebrated our 44th anniversary this past August. We have two grown children: Ryan, who works on the Strategy Team at the OSU Wexner Medical Center, and Kristen, a nurse at the James Cancer Hospital. Ryan is married to Betsy and they have our three grandchildren, Zack, Drew, and Maddie ages 16-12. Our family is complete with our cat, Zoe and golden retriever, Macie.
I love to read, walk, hike, and kayak. I walk most days with Kim and Macie at my side. I love hearing about people’s unique faith journeys seeing how God has worked in and through their lives.
I grew up in Chillicothe then graduated from Asbury University in 1980 and Asbury Theological Seminary in 1984. I retired after 40 years of service as a pastor in the WOC of the UMC. After retirement, Kim and I joined RCC two years ago. I sensed God’s prompting to inquire about the opening here at RCC and began my duties as Pastor of Congregational Care and Senior Ministries October 1.
My role calls for me to provide congregational care through visitation, prayer, and encouragement of the hospitalized and homebound and to provide leadership to our Senior Adult Ministry, Amazing Greys. My ministry DNA compels me to equip and deploy people who will join me in this ministry of care, so we are raising up a team of folks who will help with the hospital and shut-in visits with the goal of providing exceptional care. We are also seeking to discern how our Amazing Greys can live out and participate in RCC’s new Mission, Values, and Vision.
