Lead Pastor Transition Coming in July 2024

In October of 2023, Lead Pastor Jeff Greenway announced his intention to leave his lead pastor role at Reynoldsburg Community Church effective June 30, 2024. The Allegheny West Annual Conference of the Global Methodist Church has approved his full-time appointment as President Pro-Tempore effective July 1, 2024.

Pastor Greenway has been serving as President Pro-Tempore on a voluntary and part-time basis. Now that the conference is fully launched and has more than 540 local churches, it has become increasingly necessary to have a full-time leadership position at the helm. Pastor Jeff and his family are answering the call.

In the months leading up to Jeff’s announcement, and as he prayerfully considered his decision, the Church Administrative Board worked with the Allegheny West Conference to plan next steps for the church’s pastoral leadership. As a connectional church within the Global Methodist Church, our local church is led by a pastor appointed by the Annual Conference and approved by the Bishop.

With a process approved by the Allegheny West Conference, the Reynoldsburg Community Church Board appointed a Pastoral Transition Task Force. The task force gathered research, worked to understand the opportunities and necessary requirements to fulfill the transition, and recommended a path forward. The task force reached a consensus to recommend Executive Pastor Bill Weaver as the next Lead Pastor upon the end of Jeff Greenway’s tenure. Our presiding elder agreed to approve the appointment if recommended by the church. The Appointive Cabinet has recommended the appointment of Pastor Bill Weaver as the Lead Pastor of Reynoldsburg Community Church effective July1, 2024.  Bishop Mark Webb will affirm and set that appointment sometime after January 1, 2024.

Next Steps

  • Pastor Jeff continues his role as Lead Pastor through June 30, 2024. He also continues his part-time role as President Pro-Tempore of the Allegheny West Annual Conference until it becomes a full-time position in July of 2024.
  • Pastor Bill continues his role as Executive Pastor while gradually expanding his responsibilities and prayerfully preparing for his Lead Pastor role effective July 1, 2024.
  • A special committee comprising members of the Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) and Executive Team will lead a process to recruit and hire a new Executive Pastor.
  • The Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) and others will determine and make plans for how best to celebrate with Pastor Jeff, and will share more information about that as plans develop. Rest assure there will be a way for the entire congregation to participate
