Henderson Settlement, located in Frakes, KY, provides vital ministry to the rural Appalachian community. Their outreach includes an active youth program, children’s tutoring, a ministry for expectant mothers, a clothing store, a food pantry, and a greenhouse.
Each year, the settlement identifies a family in need of a new home. Throughout the summer, volunteers arrive to construct the residence on the family’s property. This year, our church was blessed to kick off the process for the 2026 Henderson Home. Over 35 volunteers worked together for two days to construct the framework right here at our church.
Once the framework was complete, we temporarily assembled the walls so our congregation could see the fruits of their labor. That Sunday, everyone was invited to pray over the home, its journey to Frakes, and the family of five who will soon call it their own. It was a beautiful sight to see our church come together to make such a meaningful impact on a family over 200 miles away.
Members also had the opportunity to write words of encouragement and scripture directly on the studs for the family to discover when the home arrives. What a blessing to be part of this mission!
The walls have since traveled to Henderson Settlement, arriving ahead of our team of 22 on-site volunteers. Currently, one group is finishing the framework, while another is planting Mother’s Day flowers for local students to give to their moms, delivering arrangements to the local nursing home, and assisting with daily projects at the settlement.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered and prayed in preparation for this mission trip!
